James P. Mack passed away peacefully on July 5,2025.


Born to Frank (deceased) and Dian Mack (deceased) on May 18, 1952 and brother to Kevin (deceased) and Brian Mack (deceased). Jim graduated in 1970 from Northport High school where he played football and was voted as Most Valuable Player in wrestling in his senior year. After earning a BS in Geology from Waynesburg College, he was employed for 4 years at one of the first Environmental Protection Department For the Town of Huntington. Some projects he had an imprint on was the creation of the Mill Pond in Centerport, NY and a coastal study of Long Island Sound. He received his Masters Degree In Hydrogeology at Adelphi University while working in Manhattan for Fred C. Hart Associates which later became McLaren Hart.

He worked his way up from project manager to Vice President and was instrumental in the cleaning up environmentally contaminated sites such as the Raritan Mall, Amazon warehouse in Bound Brook as well as the Federal Express building On the New Jersey Turnpike. Well respected in his field, went on to work at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He opened his own company (James P. Mack LLC) where he continued the same kind of work.


He is survived by wife of 51 years Virginia (nee Niemczyk) and Daughter Meredith. He loved his grandchildren to the moon and back: Aryanna, Sawyer, Indiana and Freya. Private cremation will be handled by the Hillsborough Funeral Home.
