On July 5, 2025, Sam Lau, 53, left us too soon, passing away in Brooklyn, NY. Born in Fujian, China, he arrived in the U.S. as a young boy, planting roots in New York's vibrant streets and growing a family he cherished. Sam forged a legacy of laughter and love to those he held dear.

For many years, Sam thrived in the NYC garment industry, navigating its chaos with a sly grin that could calm a storm. But his true genius was lighting up a room. He had the gift of gab wrapped in a Brooklyn swag. His goofy, irreverent humor and infectious laugh turned everyday moments into memories. A proud American, Sam wore his gratitude for this country like a badge. Yet, his deepest success was his family. Sam’s spirit was a dichotomy: independent yet loyal, mischievous yet kind. He lived boldly, leaving an indelible mark on countless lives.

His children, Lina (and husband Mike Giordano), Bill, Alexandra, Julia, and Joseph were his pride, the heart of every sacrifice and smile. His mother, Chui Wa Chen, brothers James and Peter Lau, and nieces Cadence and Noelle anchored him through life’s highs and lows.

His former wife, Wendy Zheng, and a constellation of family and friends carry his warmth forward, their hearts heavy but bright with the sparks of wonderful memories.

Preceded in death by his father, Tak Ki Lau, Sam’s strength lives on in his children’s laughter, his siblings’ and nieces' stories, and the love they shared.
