Betty L. Thoman Obituary

Betty Lou Wilson Thoman, 96, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025 in Bloomington, IL with family by her side.

Born on July 29, 1928, in Colterville, IL, one of 7 children born to Elizabeth and Clarence Wilson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel L. Thoman; her sons, Randy and Samuel; and her grandson, Andrew Thoman.

She is survived by her daughter, Marta Thoman Isley of Bloomington, IL; her son, Max Thoman of Cape Coral, Florida; as well as many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty lived a full and devoted life centered around family and hard work. She was employed at Walgreens on E. Oakland in Bloomington for 33 years. She found joy in the little things—feeding the birds, playing bingo, and visiting the gambling boat in Peoria. She was known for always having candy to share, her sweet spirit, her strong will, her sharp wit, and a stubborn streak that only made her more endearing.

A private family memorial was held at Parkhill Cemetery. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Her family would like to thank all of the wonderful nurses and CNAs that cared for Betty during her time at McLean County nursing home.
