Pamella Schwierk (née Muller), of Springfield, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born in Newark, NJ on December 1, 1944, Pamella was the daughter of Lorraine (née Saul) and William Muller. She grew up in Irvington and was a proud graduate of Irvington High School. After residing in Summit, Pam and her family made Springfield their home for over 40 years.
Together with her cherished husband of 56 years, Peter Schwierk, Pam owned and operated the Beacon Hill Tavern and Restaurant in Summit from 1984 to 1997. Pam embodied the true spirit of hospitality, her warmth, generosity, and love for bringing people together made the tavern a beloved gathering place in the community. She forged lifelong friendships and treated her employees like family.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Pam was the heart of her family. She found great joy in hosting family gatherings and holiday celebrations, always with a delicious spread that often featured her treasured (and carefully guarded) family recipes. A passionate cook and baker, Pam lovingly passed on some of those traditions to her daughter-in-law, whom she shared a special bond with to ensure they would live on for generations to come.
Pam also had a deep appreciation for nature and was a Union County Master Gardener. Her gardens were as full of life as her home, a reflection of her nurturing spirit.
Pam leaves behind her beloved husband, Peter Schwierk; her devoted son, Paul Schwierk, and his wife Tracy; and her adored grandchildren, Cayden and Sarah Schwierk. She is also survived by her loving sisters, Gail Villanova, Debbie Lewandowski, Virginia “Ginger” Peragallo, and Helen Yannuzelli, along with many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and two stray cats she loved as her own, Gracie and Baby Face. She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Waynne Barrett and Christine Pici.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Pamella’s life during a visitation on Thursday, July 10th from 5:00–8:00 PM at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave, Summit, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 11th at 10:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 524 South St., New Providence, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
