Mary Eileen Ficarelli, age 68; of Oak Brook, Illinois, passed away suddenly on July 5, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and fierce love for her family and friends.
She was a devoted mother and proud grandmother, “Mimi” to her beloved grandchildren, Reid and Grace, who were truly the light of her life. In her recent retirement, she looked forward to spending more time with them, showering them with the same joy and generosity she gave so freely to everyone she loved.
Professionally, she was a successful banker and loan originator, dedicating 16 years of her career to Republic Bank. She built strong relationships with colleagues and clients alike, known for her sharp mind, trustworthiness, and the personal care she brought to every interaction. Her work was more than a job, it was another way she showed up for others.
Known for her sparkling personality and vibrant spirit, she had a heart as big as her smile. She never hesitated to show up for those she cared about, and her friendships, many decades-long, are a testament to her loyalty, warmth, and ability to make anyone feel seen and special. Her deep Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout her life. It shaped the way she loved others, with compassion, humility, and grace, and brought her strength and comfort in both joyful and difficult times.
A passionate Chicago sports fan, she could often be found cheering on the Cubs with unwavering loyalty and contagious energy. Her love for her hometown teams matched her love for her people; full-hearted and enduring.
She will be remembered for her laugh, her heart, her stories, and the way she lit up every room she entered with her sparkling blue eyes. Though her passing leaves an ache in our hearts, her memory will continue to shine through the lives she touched, especially in the eyes of the grandchildren she adored.
