Keith A. Rhodes, 65, of Onalaska, passed away with his pup on his chest and me holding his hand at home Saturday, July 5, 2025. Keith was born to Gene Hayward and Irene Winifred (Bacon) Rhodes in La Crosse, Wisconsin on May 21, 1960. He worked as a machinist at Trane Company for over 38 years. On December 7, 2017 Keith married Denise (Winchester) Gagermeier in an igloo. It was magical. And cold.

Keith is survived by his housemates: his wife, Denise (me), his pups Sadie & Bella Boo, and a stupid cat named Izzy. Just kidding, he liked that stupid cat and his voice was the ONE she most readily responded to.

Keith left behind countless dear friends, family, and chosen family. He loved to shoot trap and play cards and cribbage with y'all! There are so many it's impossible to mention everyone but you know who you are. He was a great guy with a heart of gold and a warrior spirit who sometimes spoke his mind with a working man's flare. OK F-Bombs and maybe the occasional thrown fist. Well, I've heard rumors about the fist.

I'll be forever grateful for the steadfast, fierce, sincere love he gave me, helping me to actually believe in life and love again after the passing of my first husband.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Irene and brothers Frank and Kenneth, as well as several dear friends gone too soon.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday October 4, 2025 at Gunslick Trap Club, N6700 Briggs Rd., Holmen, Wisconsin, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. The plan is to have some chili, tell some stories, maybe play some cards, and there will be the opportunity to shoot some trap.
