Rodger F. McLaughlin Obituary

Rodger F. McLaughlin, 62, of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, July 5th, 2025.

In 1994, he met the love of his life Liza McLaughlin, to whom he was married for 30 years. Together, with their three children, they set up a home base in Kentucky from which they would spend their lives travelling.

As a man proud of being "normal on the outside but weird on the inside," Rodger balanced hard work and fun. As a logistics expert at UPS, he was so good at his job, his family worried they wouldn't let him retire. After the course of his 43-year career, he will be remembered as a dedicated worker with a sharp, analytic mind.

In his personal life, Rodger was a prolific camper, an expert on beer, a US history buff and a pretty good golfer. But even if it wasn't one of his many hobbies, Rodger was always ready to try something new. There was no one better to spend a long evening around the fire with.

His loved ones will always remember him for his sense of humor, his hard work and his dedication to serving his family. He was dearly loved, and he will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marilyn McLaughlin; and two sisters, Sharon Maier and Linda McLaughlin.

Rodger is survived by his loving wife, Liza McLaughlin; his children, Matthew Maybee (Rachel), Max McLaughlin and Morgan Marrese; one grandchild, Dixie Marrese; and two sisters, Denise Saxton and Jennifer McLaughlin.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 8th, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, with his memorial service at 5:00 pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road.
