Lynn L. Gehrmann, 74 of Lincroft, N.J. and formerly of Belleville, N.J. passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2025. She was born on January 9, 1951 in Kearny, N.J. to the late Herman and Alice (Kittelberger) Haege.
She graduated from Belleville High School in 1969, Newark State College in 1973 with a BA and then went on to receive an MLS at Rutgers University in 1978. She was also formerly a devoted member of Fewsmith Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Lynn’s career included children’s programming at Belleville Public Library for 4 years and a combined total of 30 years as an Educational Media Specialist in Edison, N.J. and Eatontown, N.J. She was a member of the Contract Negotiating Team for the Eatontown Teachers’ Association and an Executive Board Member for the Rutgers School of Communication and Information Alumni Association for 17 years.
She received the Grand Cross of Color, the highest honor bestowed by the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. Lynn was a former Girl Scout and Girl Scout Leader and an historian of the Newark State College Theatre Guild.
Lynn is predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Gehrmann (1992) and is survived by her daughters, Amy Brainard and Jenny Gehrmann; a sister, Joan Newby; son-in-law Garrison Brainard; and two granddaughters, Emily and Hannah Brainard.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and a prayer service on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at 11 AM at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave. Red Bank, N.J. Interment will immediately follow at Fair View Cemetery in Middletown, N.J.
