Paul Wayne Culpepper

Paul Wayne Culpepper, 88, of West Frankfort, Illinois, passed away Tuesday April 16, 2019 in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale at 4:12p.m. Paul was born December 11, 1930 in West Frankfort, Illinois to Roy Sr. and Beulah (Wall) Culpepper. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict 571 Composite Company attached to the 4th infantry and stationed in Alaska, 32 degree Mason, and a Shriner. Paul worked for Table Pride Bakery for 14 years, Norge, Olin’s, Inland Steel Coal, and retired from Old Ben 25. He attended St. John’s Catholic Church – West Frankfort, Illinois. He married Elizabeth McGhee on October 2, 1954 and she survives. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Culpepper; parents; brother, Roy Jr. (Louise) Culpepper; sisters: Mildred (Bob) Knepp, Barbara Culpepper, Patsy Culpepper, Ruby (Allen) Estes. Paul is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Culpepper; children: Joseph (Mary Beth) Culpepper, Daniel (Amy) Culpepper, and Susan (Chris) Aaron; sister, Sandra Evard; daughter-in-law, Brenda Kuhl; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday April 20, 2019 at Union Funeral Home – West Frankfort, Illinois with Brother Mike Cash and Monsignor Bill McGhee officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery – West Frankfort, Illinois. Visitation will be held Friday April 19, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Catholic Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
