Rudolph "Rudy" Bauer

Rudolph "Rudy" Bauer, age 79, of Hastings died Saturday, January 14, 2017 in Rochester, MN following a lengthy illness. Rudy was born March 21, 1937 in Hastings to Anton and Eva (Leih) Bauer. He attended local schools and was employed at Armour Co. and at Spectro Alloys Co. He married Mary L. Ristow November 26, 1956 in Farmington, MN. He enjoyed Blue Grass music, gardening, traveling in his motor home, playing cards, and spending time with his friends at the YMCA. Many days, he would pass the time in his chair in his garage on Sixteenth and Pine streets with close friend and companion, Bernice Carlson.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary and a son, Tim. Rudy is survived by his children Teresa Malecha of Farmington, Jeannie (Dwain) Whipple of Hastings, John (Kathy) Bauer of Cottage Grove, Michelle Bauer of Burnsville, Jerry Bauer of Ellsworth, WI; grandchildren Tracy Molina, Joey Bauer, Shawna Munger, Jamie Malecha, Jason Whipple, Kristin Bauer, Sam Bauer, Danny Bauer, David Bauer Bradley Bauer; also by 11 great grandchildren; siblings Theresa (Ken) Kossan, Anna Gydeson, Joyce Merritt, Joanne Reinardy, Diane Evans, John F. (Marlys) Bauer, Raymond (Joanie) Bauer, Marvin Bauer and Ronald Bauer, all of Hastings; also by many other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service, officiated by Rev. Doug Duin will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2017 at Our Saviours Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 West Ninth Street in Hastings, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.
