Mrs. Goldie Veldman, age 94, of Spirit Lake, formerly of Hull, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Accura Healthcare of Spirit Lake.

A visitation with the family present will be held on Friday, June 27, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Hull. There will be a funeral service on Friday, at 2:00pm, at the church with the Rev. Tim Ouwinga officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. The Oolman Funeral Home in Hull is in charge of arrangements.

Goldie was born on February 1, 1931, in Hudson, South Dakota, the daughter of Gysbert and Johanna (De Kam) Bakker. She was raised in Hudson, where she attended country school until 1942, when the family moved to Rock Valley.

On August 5, 1958, she was united in marriage to Gerrit Veldman in Rock Valley. They made their home in Sheldon until 1964, when they moved to Hull. In addition to being a wife and mother, Goldie enjoyed helping at the Hull Bakery from time to time.

Mrs. Veldman was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church, where she participated in Bible study groups. She and Gerrit also served with Volunteers in Christian Service for three years. Gerrit passed away on September 10, 2001, in Hull, after more than 43 years of marriage. In 2016, Goldie moved to Aspen Heights Assisted Living in Hull. She would spend many days playing piano, Bingo, Scrabble, Dominoes, and many other games with the residents. For the last nine months, she was a resident of Accura HealthCare of Spirit Lake, where she spent many hours putting together puzzles and playing Bingo and other games.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Harvey and Vonnie Veldman, and Terry and Stephanie Veldman; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Veldman; nine grandchildren, Hannah Veldman; Daniel Veldman; Travis Veldman, and his wife, Brittany; Micah Veldman, and his wife, Niki; Bryce Veldman, and his wife, Rachel; Abby, and her husband, Jacob Koedam; Mackenzie Veldman; Kieja Veldman; and Josephine, and her husband, Parker Badding; thirteen great-grandchildren, Emelia, Gracie, Stella, Vivian, Rhys, Jarret, Ashlyn, Jazlene, Addison, Adeline, Harrison, Raelyn, and Sydney; two brothers and their wives, John and Joyce Bakker; and Albert and Carolyn Bakker; a sister, Gert Busby; and a brother-in-law, Robert Catchot.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Randy Veldman and one in infancy; a granddaughter, Erin Marie Veldman; four sisters, Lena in infancy; Nellie, and her husband, Albert Keizer; Bertha, and her husband, Francis Leloux; and Johanna Catchot; two brothers, Gysbert Bakker, Jr., and his wife, Donna; and Clarence Bakker; and a brother-in-law, Colon “Buzz” Busby.

Memorials will be given to St. Croix Hospice of Spirit Lake.
