Melanie Ann Sims of Farmington, formerly of Searcy, died June 9, 2025, at her home after a brief illness. She was 58.
She was born on February 23, 1967, in Searcy to Kathryn Cook Sims and the late Lowell Michael Sims.
Melanie earned an Associate of Arts degree at Arkansas State University-Beebe and a Bachelor of Arts degree at Harding University. She had retired after spending many years working in various office administration and fund-raising roles at Harding, ASU-Beebe, Lindsey Software Systems, the Searcy Chamber of Commerce, the Arkansas Department of Education, and Jacob’s Place Homeless Mission.
She was a former member of Downtown Church of Christ in Searcy and was active in fund-raising activities at Harding Academy. Melanie loved cheering for the Razorback softball team, sewing and smocking outfits for babies, and Disney vacations with her family. Her granddaughter Lynden added much joy to her life.
Melanie is survived by her mother; her daughter, Ellie Kiihnl King of Fayetteville (husband Tyler); and a granddaughter, Lynden Grace King. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents, Elzy Doyle and Ora Gammill Cook and Lowell and Vern Sims.
A memorial service will be held at a later time.
