Janice Dutton Bridges, 79, of Rockingham, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Richmond County Hospice Haven, surrounded by family.
Janice was born on March 15, 1946, in Portsmouth, VA, to the late George Thomas Dutton and Viola Jordan Dutton.
Jan’s life was a testament to the power of resilience and perseverance. Though faced with challenges due to CMT disease, she never wavered in her determination to live a meaningful life. She continued to work with a passion that inspired those around her, determined to keep her independence despite the massive hurdles life continued to throw at her. Her spirit was unwavering, and she fought with every fiber of her being to make the most of every day.
She was strong in her faith. She believed in giving to charities such as St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. She also had a deep love for animals. Jan believed “a mother is only as happy as her saddest child.”
Along with her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Dutton.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Tyler (Mary) of Rockingham; daughter, Jill Reale (Rene) of Rockingham; grandchildren, Wynston Tyler (Angel), Cody Tyler (Cassie), Dylan Tyler, Katelyn Briggs, Kiara Reale, and Penelope Reale; great grandchildren, Neveah Robinson, Carmyn Tyler, Mason Tyler, Ava Tyler, and Gracie Tyler; and her beloved dog, Mini.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 2:00-3:00 pm, at Harrington Funeral Home, with the funeral service immediately following at 3:00 pm. Reverend Dean Dixon will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice Haven, 1119 N US Hwy 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.
Burial will be at Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham.
At other times the family will be receiving visitors at the family home in Rockingham.
