Isabel Wolock, 97, of Metuchen, NJ, died on May 30, 2025. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, on May 28, 1928, the daughter of Robert Yedlin and Sybil Kramer Yedlin. She grew up in Seagate, Brooklyn, and then in Fords, NJ. 

Isabel attended Skidmore College as an undergraduate and received her PhD at Rutgers University. She later became a full professor at the Rutgers Graduate School of Social Work. After retiring from Rutgers, she did doctoral student advising at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University, in New York City.

Isabel married Melvin Wolock in 1949; they were married for almost 70 years. They settled in Metuchen, New Jersey, where  they raised their three children. She is survived by her sons Steven Wolock (Barbara) and David Wolock (Barbara), her grandchildren Alison Wides (William), Timothy Wolock (Alanna McAuley) Samuel Wolock (Deesha Sarma), Charles Wolock (Rebecca Ellis), Elizabeth Wolock, Anna Wolock, Sarah Buckleitner (Jordan Youngmann) and Jenna Buckleitner (Benjamin Cashin), and six great grandchildren. 

She is lovingly remembered by Bérgamo Pedrosa of São José dos Campos, Brazil. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin and daughter Ellen (Warren Buckleitner).

Isabel was enthusiastically optimistic, kind, loving, and patient. She liked nothing better than gathering family and friends together. Her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, were always her first priority.

That said, she always did her very best to beat them at Scrabble or Words with Friends.

She will be greatly missed.

The family will hold a private ceremony followed by a memorial gathering at a later date.
