Charlene Phelps, MSN, RN, FAAN

CHARLENE PHELPS, MSN, RN, FAAN, age 75. Beloved daughter of the late Charles E. Phelps and Margaret D. Martin and step-daughter of Lionel E. Martin; dear sister of Margaret M. Brown (James); fond aunt of Elizabeth S. McCleery (Matthew) and Blaire Catalano (Mark); dear friend of Nancy A. Gorenshek. Charlene earned her BSN from the University of Connecticut and her MSN from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Western Reserve University. Her professional positions included Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; Research Assistant at Yale School of Nursing and Head Nurse at Yale-New Haven Hospital (joint position); and four positions at University Hospitals of Cleveland, the last nine years as Chief Nursing Officer. During her career, she received the following awards: Johnson & Johnson Wharton Fellow; Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing; Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives Award for Excellence in Nursing Leadership; Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing Alumni Association Distinguished Alumna; and the Eleanor K. Gill Outstanding Award for Clinical Excellence in Nursing, University of Connecticut. Funeral Service Tuesday November 29, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the SCHULTE & MAHON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 5252 MAYFIELD RD., LYNDHURST (BETWEEN RICHMOND AND BRAINARD) where the family will receive friends MONDAY 3-7 P.M. Interment Lake View Cemetery. A Memorial Service for Charlene will be held at a later date at Amasa Stone Chapel, Case Western Reserve University, date and time to be announced.
