Wanita Jean Hutton
October 11, 1937 – April 26, 2025
Wanita Jean Hutton, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Reno, Nevada, on April 26, 2025, surrounded by family. Born in Kelso, Washington, on October 11, 1937, to William and Helen Robins, she was the eldest of three children.
A graduate of Kelso High School (Class of 1955), Wanita moved to Reno in 1963 with her children and soon met the love of her life, Bobby Hutton. They shared many wonderful years together.
She worked as an accountant for the Washoe County School District, serving with dedication until retirement. Wanita was active in her community, belonging to a women’s sorority and bowling league, and she treasured time spent traveling with Bobby—by plane, boat, and motorhome. She especially loved camping and being outdoors.
A talented crafter, Wanita won blue ribbons for her crochet and cross-stitch. Many of her handmade blankets are still cherished decades later. She brought joy to family and friends through game nights, heartfelt conversations, and her consistent presence. No matter the day or hour, she always showed up—and always did her best.
She is survived by her husband Bobby; sons Randy and Alan; stepson Michael; and 26 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters Robin, Debbie, and Marlene.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Mountain View Mortuary, 425 Stoker Ave, Reno, NV. All are welcome.
