Thomas Allen Burhoe was born on September 9th, 1938, to Ralph and Frances Burhoe in Boston, Massachusetts. Tom went to Boston Latin High School and graduated in 1956. Tom attended MIT in Boston, Massachusetts, from 1956 to 1958, then obtained his degree from Boston University in 1962.

Tom met Joyce Adams at a church function in Boston, Massachusetts, and they married on September 15th, 1968. They had two daughters, Karen and Lisa, and moved to Irving, Texas, in the summer of 1981. Tom worked for IBM from about 1963 to 1993, then retired from IBM and did several independent computer tech contract jobs. Tom also worked for the Dallas Police Department as a computer programmer. After Tom retired from the Dallas Police Department, he did volunteer work for the North Dallas Shared Ministries, working in the food pantry. Tom was a member of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas in Dallas, Texas. He attended the men's church group of the First Unitarian Church of Dallas. Tom went to be with the Lord on April 23, 2025, in his home in Irving, Texas.

Tom Burhoe is survived by his daughter Lisa Burhoe; older brother, Winslow Burhoe; and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce; 2 sisters, Laura and Diana; and his daughter, Karen Burhoe.

Tom was a very giving and caring brother, uncle, father, husband, and dear friend to many. He was always willing to help when you needed it. Tom will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Instead of flowers, the family asks to please give to a charity of your choice in Tom’s memory. Some suggestions are the American Heart Association, the Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation, the Arbor Day Foundation, or the North Dallas Shared Ministries, now called Now-Forward.
