Kathleen Alice Rice

Avon - Age 62, passed away gracefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Strong Memorial Hospital after a courageous and hard-fought battle with colorectal cancer.

Born on September 30, 1962, Kathleen was so many things to so many people: a devoted mother, proud grandmother, loving sister, dedicated coworker, cherished daughter, and a loyal friend. Her strength, warmth, and sense of humor touched countless lives.

Despite life’s challenges, Kathleen achieved great things. While raising two young children, she pursued higher education with unwavering determination, earning a spot on the dean’s list with a 4.0 GPA. She went on to work as a paralegal at two of Rochester’s top law firms, driven by her love for her family and her desire to provide a better life for her children.

Kathleen was the most hardworking and humble woman anyone could know. She had a gift for making people laugh and a zest for life that was truly contagious. She loved to travel, dance, paint, and create. She was the Buffalo Bills’ #1 fan and had a special place in her heart for her grandpup, Astro. Wherever she went, Kath brought joy, light, and laughter—she was the light in every room.

She is survived by her three children: Amanda, Ariana, and Andre; her eleven beloved grandchildren: Haylie, Emelie, Shymere, Rylan, Shyohna, David, Imani, Aubrey, Damien, Derek III, and Damar’e; and her great-grandson, Henry. She also leaves behind her siblings: Diane, Darlene, Gary, Rick, and Carrie; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts forever. Kathleen was more than just a grandmother—she was “Mom” to many, a constant source of love, strength, and guidance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Ernie Rice.

Kathleen’s legacy of love, resilience, and joy lives on in the lives she touched. Her faith was strong, and while her absence is deeply felt, we find peace in knowing she is at rest. She inspired so many and left behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.
