Mathew J. Czyzycki, Jr., 69, a lifelong resident of Long Pond in Dracut, took his last earthbound turtle ride on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

He was born in Lowell on February 22, 1956, the son of the late Dr. Mathew J. and Dolores (Korsak) Czyzycki. Mat’s early years were spent in Chelmsford and Lowell. He attended St. Stanislaus School, St. John’s Prep, and Boston University.

Most of Mat’s life was spent in the hospitality industry. He worked in many MA and NH restaurants throughout his career, including local favorites like the Coq d’Or Restaurant, BJ Jasper’s, and Carrabba’s.

As a true hospitality personality, Mat enjoyed chatting with people which resulted in friends near and far. During his time off, he loved to spend time with family and friends, travelling throughout the country to see them. He loved photography and sent out New Year’s cards of his annual favorites. At home, he loved “the lake life” and gardening, creating his own jungle. Mat was an incredible cook and was relied upon for providing the backbone of family gatherings with traditional family recipes. He was also an avid collector of wine and spirits, which he loved to share.

Mat will be greatly missed by his sisters: Andrea Morgan and her husband Don, Pat Czyzycki, Amy Czyzycki, and Liz Carnevale and her husband Dennis. “Uncle Mat” is also survived by many nephews and nieces: Michael Welch, Nicole Czyzycki, Bryan Welch, Taylor Cedar and her husband Wade, Damian Carnevale, and Elyse Doherty and three grandnieces: Emma, Isabel, and Violet Cluff. He also leaves behind his bonus nieces and nephews: Kara, Adam, Themo and Leifa Peters,and Kyle Ahern.

Mat was warmly greeted on the other side by Sister Dee Welch and bonus nephew Jeff Ahern.
