Richard S Lussier Obituary

Richard Lussier, 71, of Fitchburg, MA, passed away at home on April 27, 2025. A longtime resident of Fitchburg, he was born on December 19, 1953, to the late Edward and Doris Lussier. Richard graduated from St. Bernard’s High School in 1971 and went on to earn an associate degree from Mount Wachusett Community College.

He built a long and successful career as a purchasing manager, working for many years at Digital Equipment Corporation, later Compaq, and then at Thermo Fisher Scientific before retiring.

He will be fondly remembered by his two sons, Sean Lussier and wife, Lauren, of Wrentham, MA; Bryan Lussier and his wife, Mary, of Natick, Ma.  He was the cherished grandfather of Ella, Jack, Ryan and Adam, all of whom he adored beyond measure.  He is also survived by his brothers Edward Jr, Robert and Clifton and his sisters Arline and Lauraine.  He was predeceased by his sister Jeanette Lane.

A man of many passions, Richard had a deep appreciation for photography, softball, travel, and cheering on his beloved New England sports teams. He was an avid collector of science fiction books and art. For 15 years, he and his brother Clifton operated Two Brothers Apiary and were active members of the Worcester County Beekeepers Association. A dedicated fly fisherman, Richard passed this love on to his sons and was a lifelong member of both the New England Fly Tyers Association and Trout Unlimited.

Above all, Richard cherished time with his family. He never missed a chance to support his children and grandchildren, whether at games, performances, or special events. He shared his enthusiasm for art and literature with his siblings and found joy in discovering hidden gems throughout New England on his travels.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, curiosity, and quiet strength that will be cherished and treasured by all who knew him.
