Trevor Lloyd Kelly, 72, of Hartford, beloved husband of Marlene Burrell Kelly, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Portland, Jamaica, West Indies on February 14, 1953, son of the late Estreanna Kelly, he was raised in Jamaica and had lived in New York for many years before moving to Hartford.

While living in New York, Trevor continued his education at Long Island University (LIU) where he majored in business administration and minored in sociology. He received bachelor’s degree from LIU and later received a certificate as a paralegal. Dedicated to lifelong learning, Trevor also took graduate courses at Central Connecticut State University after moving to Hartford.

Trevor worked as a police officer while living in Jamaica and then as a corrections officer in New York. Most recently, he had worked as a school bus driver for many years while living in Hartford until his retirement.

Proud of his career as a police officer in Jamaica and his West Indian roots, he was a member of the Jamaica Ex-Police Association where he enjoyed reminiscing with other ex-police and socializing with his friends at the club on Homestead Avenue in Hartford.

In addition to his wife, he leaves five children, Andrene Kelly of Coral Springs, FL, Nadine Kelly-Shand and her husband Dean of Bronx, NY, Floyd Kelly and his wife Shelle Ann of Jamaica, Sean P. Kelly and his wife Trevonda of Union, NJ, and Latoya P. Kelly of Far Rockaway, NY; seven grandchildren, Sakiyah Kelly and Tristan Kelly both of Union, NJ, Tamiah Gray of Far Rockaway, NY, Akaysia Golden of Coral Springs, FL, Dana Shand of Bronx, NY, and Kalina Kelly and Kaylyn Kelly both of Jamaica; two siblings, Cleveland “George” Clarke and his wife Ethline of Queens, NY and Ivez Shroder and her husband Cecil Murray of Bronx, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Julian Smith.

His family will receive friends on Friday, May 16, 9-10 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 10 a.m., at Good New Release Center, 690 Blue Hills Ave., Hartford. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family has entrusted the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home with the arrangements.
