Graveside services for Douglas Glenn Childress, 69 of Waskom, TX, formerly of Haynesville, LA, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2025, at Shady Grove Cemetery in Haynesville with Rev. Rodney Gray officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Haynesville, LA.

Douglas was born April 6, 1956, in Shreveport, LA and passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Waskom, TX.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War on the U.S. Midway. Douglas played football for the Haynesville Golden Tornados and loved to fish and hunt.

Survivors include his wife, Joan McDonald Childress of Waskom, TX, four daughters, Samantha Childress of Minden, LA, Shelly Trost and husband Keith of Marshall, TX, Amy Goodwin of Minden, LA, Christen Klick of Farmerville, LA, two sons, Landon Childress of Marshall, TX, Blade Childress and wife Carolyne of Minden, LA, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two sisters, Betty Green of Haynesville, LA, Linda Breazeale and husband Wayne of Hampton, AR, two brothers, Chic Childress and wife Debora of Homer, LA, Steve Childress and wife Shirley of Haynesville, LA, numerous nieces and nephews, and last but not least Dougie’s best friend and bud his Binx, all who know Dougie and Binks knew whether in the woods or on the pond fishing, knew they were always together, everybody that knew them knew their love was unconditional.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Childress and Helen Bass Childress, sister, Wanda Funderburg, two brothers, Jimmy Childress, Jerry Childress, niece, Paige Childress, nephew, Randy Smith.
