Paul Ibert, son of Nancy Bordelon and Charles S. Ibert died April 23 after heart surgery in Lafayette LA. He enjoyed life in Lafayette, his home, for the last several years. Before that he enjoyed living on Bayou Teche in Franklin. He had a great sense of humor and was joking with family and nurses his last few days. He found humor everywhere and enjoyed life.
Always, a kindhearted animal lover, he fed stray animals. Stray cats, racoons, and squirrels came to see him.
With a big heart, he would share anything he had, money or possessions, with others in need. He gave away a sofa that his sister had bought him, to another family nearby who needed living room furniture. Paul figured that since he lived alone with two cats, he only needed one chair, his siblings had to stand when they visited him.
Paul loved his ski trip to Alaska that he took with his brother Brian and nephew Trace when his sister lived there. He would ski down and get back in line again and again, since he couldn’t do this in Louisiana. Denise had to beg him to leave after several hours.
Paul was an old school guy. He preferred talking to texting. He spoke with family almost every day, especially Lisa. He watched old time TV shows, The Munsters, I Dream of Jeannie and A Real Crime.
He often fished at his brother Brad’s pond in Broussard LA. He loved fishing and often said that the big one got away.
Paul was a great Patriot who served his Country in South Korea. After his military time, he worked for Air Dreco fabricating heavy machinery, skills the Army taught him.
He is survived by his four siblings, Bradley (Trish) Ibert in Broussard LA, Denise (Tom) Lane in Houston TX, Brian (Kye) Ibert in The Colony, TX, and Lisa (Pete) Stark in Ashton ID. He had many nieces and nephews and two cats.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles S. Ibert; his mother Nancy Bailey Ibert Bordelon, his second father, Charles A. Bordelon; brother, Glenn Ibert; and nephews, Robert Scott and Trace Barras.
Paul being generous to the end was an organ donor and countless people benefitted from his gifts.
We will all miss Paul, an extremely funny, giving, caring, amazing man. He was a hoot and fun to be around. He loved his family, and we loved him. We will miss him forever.
