In Loving Memory of Jason Elwood Hanson
June16, 1979 – April 26,2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jason Hanson, who left us far too soon on April 26, 2025, at the young age of 45. He was a beloved father, brother, son, uncle and friend whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jason will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his parents, Lyle and Helen Hanson; his brother Jeff Hanson (Lisa); his sisters Jamie Biggar (Matt) and Janelle Hanson (Jason); and his cherished niece and nephew, Zoe and Dayton. He will also be greatly missed by his cousin Murray Usipiuk (Michelle) and son Garett. He is also remembered with affection by Rae-Ann Hanson, the mother of his daughter, and his longtime partner, Kali Newman. Above all, his beloved daughter, Lee-El Hanson who will carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and resilience.
He is predeceased by his mother Linda Lou Hanson; grandparents Peggy and Lou Roka, Allan Harper, and Hedy Usipiuk; his brother Isaac Handy; and his aunt Linda Lind. Their memories were dear to him, and we take comfort knowing they are reunited.
Jason had a deep passion for life’s simple pleasures. He found joy and freedom in working on his motorcycles, always happiest with grease on his hands and the open road on his mind. He was an exceptional cook, bringing people together through meals made with love and care. Whether experimenting with new recipes or perfecting old favorites, he cooked from the heart and always made sure no one left his table hungry.
He loved the outdoors and felt most at peace surrounded by nature. But above all else, his greatest joy and source of pride was his daughter, Lee-El. She was his entirety, and he was fiercely devoted to her. His love and care for his family knew no bounds, he was someone who showed up, offered help without hesitation, and gave his all for those he loved.
Jason will be remembered for his big heart, intense sense of humor, his strong hands, and his unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the memories we share, the meals we recreate, the roads we ride, and the love he poured into everything he did.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 18th, 2025, for anyone wishing to say their goodbyes to him in person. This will be held between 10:00am-12:00pm at Drake's Cremation and Funeral Service, 210 Lansdowne St, Kamloops, BC V2C 1X7 and a Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm at the Sandman Centre, 300 Lorne St, Kamloops, BC V2C 1W3, where we will gather to honor the life of a man who gave so much and asked for so little in return.
Ride free, Jason; you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
