Ilda Rosa Caraccioli Obituary

Ilda Rosa Caraccioli passed away peacefully after a brief illness on April 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Ilda was born on March 12, 1931 to Joseph and Carolina Morisoli, Swiss immigrants who arrived in the United States through Ellis Island.

A lifelong resident of the Salinas Valley, she graduated from Gonzales High School in the class of 1949. Ilda went on to marry Charlie Caraccioli in 1955, and together they raised their two children, Tom and Candy. Their marriage spanned 43 wonderful years until his passing in 1998.

Affectionately known as Noni, Ilda had an undeniable sweet tooth she never tried to hide and was revered for her Noni pancakes that had to be done just right. She had a green thumb and spent time in her garden, and found joy in playing bingo and games with family and friends. Even in her advanced age, she never shied away from getting down on the floor to do puzzles with her great grandchildren, an activity that demonstrated her laughter, wit, vibrancy and genuine love for her family.

She is survived by her son, Tom (Carole) Caraccioli and daughter, Candy (Gary) Piffero. She adored her grandchildren: Carly Caraccioli, Caitlyn (Zach) Watkins, Nicole (Nick) Sunseri and Kevin Piffero. She is also survived by her cherished great-grandchildren: Olivia Watkins, Joshua Watkins and Natalee Sunseri.

Ilda was preceded in death by her parents, brother Albin Morisoli, and sister Alice Ostini.

Though she is dearly missed, her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, and in the countless memories she gifted to us all. Ilda was a devoted Catholic throughout her life, and we take comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with loved ones, especially her beloved Charlie, and held in the arms of God.

The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses along with the in-home caregivers.
