Andre Tyrone Henderson

February 21, 1969 - April 26, 2025

Andre Tyrone Henderson, affectionately known as “Smash”, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and creativity. Born on February 21, 1969 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Robin Quattlebaum (Henderson) and Maurice Cox, Andre was a man of many

talents and a heart full of generosity.

Andre attended Putnam Vocational High School and later became a dedicated truck driver for 19 years, a career that showcased his dedication and hard work. A true jack of all trades, he had a deep love for art and cooking. His artistic passion was expressed through wood carving, specifically walking sticks. His nickname “Smash” came from his impressive breakdancing skills, which he honed during the vibrant breakdancing era of the 80s.

Andre’s willingness to help anyone in need was a testament to his God-fearing nature and compassionate spirit. His family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his four children: DeAndre, Marcus, Quindell, and Lydia Henderson who will forever cherish his memory. He also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren: Kaelani, Kaelyn, Dallas, Raena, and Marcus Jr Henderson, who will truly miss their PaPa. His ex-wife Rhonda, who remained his best friend, was a constant source of support and companionship. Andre’s siblings Maurice Kemmerlin, Leslie Henderson, Shronda Payne, Sigdra Lynell Cade, along with his mother, Robin, mourn his loss deeply. Andre was predeceased by his grandparents Elizabeth Cooney and Joel Henderson along with a brother, Robert B. Cox Sr. Andre leaves behind a host of family and friends to cherish his memories.

Andre’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, friendship, and creativity. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and will be remembered fondly by all who loved him.
