Curtis A. Behlke, of Defiance, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 27, 2025. He was born and raised in Defiance, OH and graduated from Defiance High School in 1973.
Curt retired as a Carpenter Foreman with Fort Defiance Construction where he worked for over 17 years (31.5 years in Union Construction), where he was known for his strong work ethic and craftsmanship. During his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, most recently known for his cutting boards, hunting, fishing, going for buggy rides and hosting weekly Friday night “Union” meetings.
Curt is survived by his three children; Jason (Amy) Behlke, Josh (Judi) Behlke, and Jessica (Jon Woody) Byers, his three grandchildren; James Behlke, Owen Behlke, and Alina Byers, and his two brothers; Craig (Shirley) Behlke and Jeff (Gloria) Behlke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodell and Mildred Behlke, his brother, Jamie Behlke, and his committed partner, Sherry Figgy. He is also fondly remembered by Sherry’s children and grandchildren.
Curt will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his skillful hands, the deep love he had for his family, and always having a good story to tell. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life to honor Curt will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 1-4 pm at Defiance Eagles #372, 711 W. Second Street in Defiance.
