Steve Comish, Elko native and lifetime resident, died on April 27, 2025, after a brief illness. He was age 79. Steve loved his family, his friends, music and the mountains especially the Jarbidge and Rubies.
Steve leaves behind his son, 2 granddaughters, 4 great grandkids and a sister and brother-in-law. Many dear friends and neighbors will miss him and his always friendly attitude. Spending time in the Rubies will never be the same without him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
In the words of Ian Tyson, Cowboy Poet -
If I knew which way to go
I would hold you in my arms again
I'd find that winding road again
That leads me back to you
and those Ruby Mountain storms
They can't keep me from you anymore
High centered on the desert floor
So far from you
I see you in my dreams
I see you in the rain
Oh, those smoky green eyes
I'm so afraid I'll never see you again
I will hold you in my arms
If it takes until the end of time
I pray that you will wait for me
Somewhere in the Rubies tonight - Ian Tyson
