William James Etheridge was born January 8, 1940 to the late Rosa Lee Redmond in New York City. He passed away

quietly on April 26, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones in ECU Vidant Hospital, Greenville, NC.

William, affectionately known as Frog, was raised in New York until the aged of 5 when he was brought to Windsor to be cared

for by Orange and Annie Gilliam.

He attended Beacon Light Baptist Church as a child. He attended Bertie County public schools. He worked on the farm and in logging until he returned to New York as a young man.

He was married to Sarah Outterbridge and to this union, four children were born. He later met and married Janie Jordan Fulmore and together they raised one son.

They relocated to Chesterfield, VA in the 1990s and affiliated with Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, where he remained a member and attended as long as his health permitted.

William was a fun-loving person who enjoyed watching sports, especially the NY Giants. He loved traveling, watching TV and

cooking on the grill for family gatherings. He especially loved coming to Bertie High School to watch his grandsons play

football and basketball.

Loved ones preceding him in death include his mother, Rosa Lee Redmond; his sons, William (Bubba) and Llewellyn (Lou), as well as other sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Janie Etheridge; his children, Teresa (Puchie) Biggs, Gwendolyn (Lisa) Williams (Willie), both of Windsor, Wendell Miles of Atlanta, GA, Rodney Fulmore (Laurie) of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Tamyka Biggs of Ayden, NC, Lisa Biggs of Windsor, NC, Richard Kelton (Heather) of Greenville, NC, Preston Williams and Charlene Cox Etheridge, both of Windsor, NC, Jordan Miles of Los Angeles, CA, Brianna Fulmore and Maximus Amadeo, both of Brooklyn, NY; great grandchildren, Ty’Drick Gilliam, Darrell Harrell, Jr., Dy’Qwez Harrell, Zy’Lee Bazemore, Ny’Qway Bazemore, Jaylen Jefferson, Ya’Sin, Nizaiah, Lance, Kayliana, Janiyah, Carmen, Jabari, Brandon, and Justus Kelton; and his two precious great-great grandchildren, Zy'Lia Gilliam-Outlaw and Za’Riyah Gilliam- Outlaw.
