Richard Joseph Burman
April 5, 1933 – April 23, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Richard Joseph Burman on April 23, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on April 5, 1933, Richard lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and dedication to helping others.
Richard was a devoted physician specializing in Internal Medicine, a career through which he touched countless lives with his compassion and care. His family were immigrants from the ghettos of Warsaw, Poland, and their strength and perseverance deeply influenced his life and character.
He was preceded in death by his brother Stan Burman and leaves behind cherished memories with Stan’s children — his beloved nieces and nephews — Michelle Burman, Gregg Burman, and Scott Burman, who fondly knew him as "Uncle Dick."
Richard is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, his son Steve, his daughters April and her husband Bill Schwoebell, and Yvonne, and his stepson Royce Barnes and his wife Andrea. He was a proud grandfather — affectionately known as "Boppa" — to Kylie Shanahan and her husband Christian, Tyler Barnes, Trace Barnes, and Maile Burman. Though he never truly had the chance to meet his great-grandson Waylon Shanahan, his love and legacy will undoubtedly live on through him.
Richard’s life was a testament to compassion, wisdom, and quiet strength. His kind heart, gentle spirit, and the special bond he shared with his grandchildren as their "Boppa" will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Alzheimer’s research, a cause that was close to Richard’s heart.
