William “Rick” Parker, 80, passed away on April 26, 2025, in Edgewater, Florida. A proud veteran, devoted family man, and spirited member of his community, Rick lived a life marked by service, creativity, and good humor.
Born on November 25, 1944, in Geneva, New York, Rick pursued his passion for the arts by earning a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from an art college in Boston. His creative talents and entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Rick’s Aluminum, where he served as owner and proprietor for over two decades. Later in life, he continued his commitment to public service by working as a crossing guard for Volusia County for ten years.
Rick served with distinction in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and completed a 13-month tour of duty. For his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart and honorably discharged—a testament to his courage and dedication.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Rick was deeply involved in his community. He spent six years as an assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 72, helping guide young scouts with patience and enthusiasm. He was also a longtime member of the Dolphins Athletic Club, where he enjoyed camaraderie and competition.
Known for his caring nature and playful sense of humor, Rick had a knack for teasing those around him—always in good fun and with a warm heart. His presence brought laughter and lightness to many lives.
Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years Nancy; his son Kyle; daughter Jennifer; sisters Laurie and Cindy; 7 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father William Reid Parker, mother Mary Jane Parker , Aunt Ruth Bales, uncle Peter Bales.
A memorial will be held at Dudley Funeral Home 1108 N Dixie Fwy, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168; on Friday May 9th 630pm to 8 pm.
