Marion “Jose” Ernandez, 85, of Lancaster, SC, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Marion was born on Friday, September 22, 1939, in Lando, SC, to the late Robert “Bunnie” and Mary Lillian Ferguson Ernandez. Throughout Marion’s life, he has always been known for being a one-of-a-kind type of man. He loved his family unconditionally and with an open heart. He was a dedicated employee of Springs Industries, working as a Warp Hand up until his retirement after forty years. If Marion wasn’t working or out and about spending time with his family, chances are you would find him working in his yard or watching a game cheering on his favorite teams, the New York Yankees and the Washington Commanders. Marion will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Marion is also preceded in death by his sister, Sara Ernandez; brothers, Harold, Melvin, and Robert Ernandez; and daughter, Cathy Ernandez Knight.

Left to cherish his memory, are his loving wife of fifty-five years, Catherine; daughters, Sarah Mullis (Claude) and Francine Richardson; son, Thomas Marion Ernandez; son-in-law, Steve Knight; grandchildren, Nellie, Tyler, Brittany, and Cody; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls, SC. Marion’s son-in-law, Pastor Steve Knight will be officiating.
