Jo Marie Jones Obituary

Jo Marie Jones

February 13, 1949 – April 27, 2025

Jo Marie Jones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025. She was born on February 13, 1949, in Louisville, Kentucky, to Leonard Benjamin “Mac” McClellan Jr. and Jeanne Marie (Crutcher) McClellan.

Jo graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s degree in Library Sciences. Early in her career, she worked as a librarian, but her greatest joy came when she chose to dedicate herself full-time to raising her family. She poured her love and care into her home and cherished her role as a homemaker and mother above all else.

She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Jim Pike.

Jo is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 52 years, Dr. Bruce E. Jones, D.D.S., and her loving daughters, Devon Carroll (Terry) and Robin Klausing (Paul). She was a proud grandmother — “Joey”; to Ashley, Brendan (Maeve), Gavin, and Holly, whose lives were brightened by her love, wisdom and care.

She is also survived by her dear sisters, Jackie Pike and Sally Jones (Jimmy), her sister-in-law, Becky Knight (Kevin); her nieces and nephews — Sally Pike, Kim Pike, Nathan Jones (Tonya), Nicole Ballard (Chris), Taylor, and Travis Ellison; her great-nieces and great-nephews — Ben (Lauren), Aven, Weston, Harper, and Aldean. She is also survived by her lifelong friend Dru Habermel (Fred), whose friendship was a treasured constant in her life.

Jo had a love for musicals and enjoyed going to see plays whenever she could. She loved watching old concerts on T.V. featuring Billy Joel, and Elton John and also Mamma Mia the movie to name just a few and wouldn’t hesitate to sing along and dance in the family room. During the holidays, Jo and her sisters were always singing Christmas songs around the table. You’d always find her reading a “cozy mystery” book or watching an episode of Murder She Wrote or Hercule Poirot. Golden Girls was always a favorite too for Jo. Least we not forget all the countless lunches and dinners filled with joy and laughter at favorite spots such as Martini’s Italian Bistro and Blackstone Grille. Over the years, she traveled with her family to many many places; those that became beloved traditions — the mountains of North Carolina, the beaches of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and tranquil Door County, Wisconsin were favorite spots for many year’s. But more than anything, she cherished spending time with her family, which brought her the greatest joy.

Funeral service will be 10am Friday, May 9, 2025 at CrossRoads Christian Church, 4004 Shelbyville Rd with burial to follow at Cave Hill Cemetery, where Jo will be laid to rest, a place close to her heart to which all are welcome.

Visitation will be held 3-7pm Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Pearson’s, 149 Breckenridge Ln. Visitation prior to service 9-10am Friday at CrossRoads Christian Church.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to her caretakers at Hosparus of Louisville and the staff at Richwood Nursing Home in
