Muriel R. Friedland, 97, passed away on April 27, 2025. Born September 1, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Anna and Isador Siegel. Muriel was the youngest of three daughters. Muriel graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, in Brooklyn, where her three daughters would also later attend.
Most of her working years were spent selling encyclopedias, primarily for Encyclopedia Britannica, where she also created educational handouts for young children. She was the consummate salesperson.
Muriel was a generous person who adored her family. She and her beloved husband Aaron spent many years traveling the world, filling their home with souvenirs of their journeys. It was important for her to share her faith and continue on customs and traditions. She took great pride with the birth of each new family member and loved nothing more than celebrating milestones and life events. She taught her girls the importance of standing up for what you believe in. She would always urge you to take off your glasses to take a photo, even if it meant you couldn’t see the photographer. If you were feeling ill, 1000 mg of Vitamin C every hour, on the hour would cure all that ails you.
Muriel was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Aaron J. Friedland, sister Helen Weintraub, and beloved daughter, Wendy Held. She is survived by sister, Thelma Linden (100), Leesburg, VA, daughters Amy Lerner (Bernard) of East Windsor, NJ, Barbra Gibbons-Chisena (Ernest) of West Chester, PA, grandchildren Jennifer November (M-D) of Chesterfield, NJ, Brian Held (Jennifer) of Freehold, NJ, Carrie Lerner of East Windsor, NJ, Melanie Burak (Mike Taglietta) of Milltown, NJ, David Lerner (Rachel Heller) of Philadelphia, PA, Aidan Gibbons (Elizabeth) of Downingtown, PA and Conor Gibbons (Hannah) of East Windsor, NJ, great grandchildren Max, Benjamin, Shane, Samantha, Alexander, Stephanie, Aaron, Opal, Olivia and Ava, plus scores of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She will be missed by the many lives she has touched over her 97 years.
Funeral will be held on Friday, May 9 at 11:30 AM at Cedar Park Cemeteries in Paramus, NJ.
