Lonnie J. Patch, a devoted wife, cherished sister, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025. She was 78.
Born in Superior, Montana, on February 28, 1947, Lonnie was raised in Alberton, where she graduated from high school. Her life journey eventually led her to the Washington, D.C. area, where she built a meaningful and impactful career with the Department of State’s Intelligence and Research Division. She retired in 2002, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.
Lonnie was the loving wife of Russell Kessler, with whom she shared a warm and welcoming home in the company of their cat, Chester. She is also survived by her sister Kathy, her brother Tom, and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward her memory with affection and pride.
A passionate crafter, Lonnie especially loved working with paper. She organized and faithfully hosted an annual holiday ornament exchange of handmade decorations, a treasured tradition that brought joy and creativity to her circle of friends for an incredible 38 years. Her talents extended to gardening and home decorating, where her keen eye and gentle touch were always evident. Lonnie was also a passionate glider pilot who regularly took to the skies. Her love for flying extended to sky diving.
Lonnie will be remembered for her generous spirit, her artistic heart, and the warmth she brought into every space she touched.
