Isaac "Ike" Rabb, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loyal friend passed away on April 23, 2025, at the age of 93 in Austin, TX. Born on July 12, 1931, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Ike's journey through life was marked by courage, steadfast love, and a profound dedication to his family. He was revered for his depth of knowledge, fortitude and loving nature.
Growing up in New Orleans, Ike graduated from Jesuit High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Loyola University. His education laid the foundation for a successful career. Ike was not only a veteran of the United States Army but also a respected professional in the insurance sector.
Following a short stint in Houston, TX, Ike, alongside his beloved wife Jane, relocated their growing family to Austin, TX, in 1969 where they planted deep roots. Together, they nurtured their business and watched it flourish over the years. After 31 years of hard work and dedication, Ike and Jane retired, turning their attention to the joys of life with their cherished family and friends. He and Jane relished the opportunity to travel with newfound friends, exploring the world and making memories.
Beyond his professional life, Ike was a man with a profound love for music. His passion for playing the guitar and performing for his family brought him immeasurable pleasure and often served as the soundtrack to the family's gatherings. The melodies he created and the songs he sang will forever echo in the hearts of his loved ones as treasured memories of time spent together.
Ike Rabb's life was a testament to the values he held dear. He was a guiding force, a gentle hand, and above all, a family man who cherished every moment with his loved ones. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his influence will continue to be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Ike gave generously of himself to everyone he encountered, enriching the lives of those around him with his wisdom, sharp wit, and a loving heart.
He is survived by a loving family that includes his daughter, Denise Ormand (Craig); son, Geoffrey Rabb; daughter, Renee Rabb; grandchildren, Kevin Simerka (Jennifer), Jay Simerka (Lisa), Janee' Ormand (Mindy); Johnny Ormand, Robby Ormand, Courtney Rabb (Dale), Kelsey Rabb, Shelby Rabb (Austin), Carter Rabb, and Geoffrey Rabb Jr.; great-grandchildren, Amber Simerka, Matthew Simerka, Chase Simerka, Sydney Simerka, Charlee Ormand, Ryann Ormand, Landry Ormand, Ainsley Ormand as well by members of his extended family, whose lives he touched deeply. Ike's legacy of love and leadership will continue to live on through them.
Ike was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac Alonzo Rabb Sr. and Catherine Rabb; his loving wife, Jane; his siblings, Verity Joubert and Derryl Mullican; and his children, Jonathan, Ann Marie, Kenneth Wayne, Cecilia, Theresa, and his grandson, Geoffrey Wagnor. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he carried their memories with him always.
In honor of Ike's remarkable journey, we remember a man who lived not just for himself, but for the joy and betterment of others. His was a life that exemplified the true meaning of courage and love, and his memory will be cherished forever.
