Tomas Mota Obituary

Tomas Mota

2/8/1966 ~ 4/26/2025

Tomas "Tommy" Mota passed away on April 26, 2025, in Tijuana, Mexico, at the age of 59. Born on February 8, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, Tommy was a beloved son, brother, father, and friend. He’ll be remembered for his big heart, quick wit, and the kindness he showed to everyone around him. Whether through a joke, a helping hand, or just his warm presence, Tommy made people feel seen and cared for. His memory lives on in the love and laughter he shared so freely.

Tommy grew up in a lively household, the beloved son of Reyna and the late Salvador Mota, and beloved brother to Salvador Mota, Celia Alvarez, Teresa Mota, and the late Ricardo Mota. A dedicated parent and guiding light in the lives of his children, Tommy was incredibly proud of each of them. He found one of his greatest joys in serving as a softball coach for his daughter Mallorie's team, where his mentorship extended beyond his own family to touch the lives of many young athletes in the community. His coaching was about more than just the game; it was about instilling confidence, demonstrating teamwork, and encouraging sportsmanship. Tommy also played a vital role in the success of Thomas's marching band, volunteering countless hours to ensure the band's performances were executed with precision and flair. Tommy's ability to keep spirits high even during challenges was invaluable for his family, especially when it came to the many surgeries his son Benito underwent.

Tommy's passion for sports did not end with the softball diamond; he was an enthusiastic fan of the New York Giants, never missing a game and always ready to share his expert commentary and infectious excitement with anyone who would listen. His dedication to his favorite team was a hallmark of his character, showcasing his loyalty and his capacity to find joy in the shared experiences of being among fellow fans. Tommy’s passion for sports was not just a pastime, but a way of connecting with others.

If you had to sum Tommy up in three words, they might be: funny, loving, and kind. But those words don’t fully capture his spirit. Tommy didn’t just make people

laugh—he made them feel seen, heard, and appreciated. To know him was to feel like you had a true friend in your corner. His passing leaves a deep void, but his memory continues to inspire. The stories he told, the laughs he sparked, and the love he gave so effortlessly will stay with us always. As we say goodbye to Tommy, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, heart, and joy. He was deeply loved, and he made the world brighter for all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the people he touched, the lessons he shared, and the memories we’ll carry with us.
