He also leaves behind his close friend, Mickey and his cherished friends Garth, Sean, Patty, and Casey.
Scott was predeceased by his father, Erfel, his mother, Jean Marlene, stepfather, Earl, his sister Mary Jane and good friend Joel Matties.
He was born on July 10th, 1962, in Washington D.C. to Erfel and Jean Marlene Aker and was the youngest of four children. When Scott and his two surviving sisters were very young their mother moved them to Alabama. While living in Alabama, Scott’s mother married her second husband Earl (who was serving in the Air Force). Shortly after that, the family moved to Germany. Then they moved to Illinois, Utah and finally settled in Aurora, Colorado.
Scott attended high school at Gateway Highschool in Aurora, CO where he excelled academically and participated in football and track. After taking some college courses Scott tried his hand at a variety of jobs including working for JBK Landscaping, Boyer Brother’s Coffee, Walmart, then finally Stanley Steemer. He took great pride in working hard for Stanley Steemer dedicating 26 years to them until his health declined.
He enjoyed playing basketball, playing on pool and dart leagues, rock and roll concerts, air drumming, traveling to Las Vegas and gambling in Black Hawk, camping, hiking, and observing celestial events. He loved the Broncos and collecting Bronco memorabilia. For a time Earl (Dad) had Bronco season tickets in the nosebleed section and Scott and Dad went to games frequently. Scott also loved playing Fantasy Football and was extremely successful at it to the dismay of those he played against!
Scott lived a life full of generosity and love. He was always ready to lend a helping hand using his strength, talents and time to provide family, friends, and neighbors with yard work, moving, hanging Christmas lights, or whatever was needed. He was an inspiration to all of us.
Scott loved spending time and making special memories with family and friends celebrating birthdays, holidays, watching movies and other special occasions. In hard times Scott provided comforting, reassuring words and the best hugs!
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to our family, friends, therapists, doctors, nurses, CNA’s, firefighters, clergy and caregivers who cared for, ministered and prayed for Scott the last year prior to his passing.
We are extremely grateful to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the time we had with Scott and for his memory that will continue to inspire us.
