Rolando Aldo Cecchini Obituary

Rolando Aldo (“Chick”) Cecchini

May 7, 1934 – April 27, 2025

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Rolando Aldo Cecchini on April 27, 2025. At 90, he leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, devotion and treasured memories.

Rolando was predeceased by his adored wife, Colette, whom he married May 17, 1957, and celebrated 59 years together. He was the beloved father of his sons Perry (Sarah), Mark (Patricia), and Richard (Maria). He was the grandfather of Joseph (Alanna), David (Cerys), Daniel (Sheena), Steven (Clarence), Samantha (Tyler), Samantha, Ryan, Thomas, Nichole, and Karlie and the great-grandfather of Charlotte, Harrison, Roman, Stella and Lily. Rolando was predeceased by his father, Giuseppe, his mother, Rosa, his sister, Flora, and his brother, David. Rolando loved his family.

Rolando graduated from McGill University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and was a dedicated employee of Dupont of Canada for over 35 years, where he worked in a variety of engineering and management roles. He finished his career as a Safety Manager and consulted with numerous companies worldwide.

Rolando contributed to his community, including as a volunteer in his parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, and as a board member of Providence Manor. Rolando enjoyed travelling the world with Colette, golfing with the “Sunshine Boys”, photography, hockey (both as a player in his youth and as a coach) and walking his dog, Maggie. Rolando was also an avid runner in his later years, competing in numerous Terry Fox runs, half-marathons and the Montreal Marathon.

Rest in peace, Rolando/Dad/Grandpa/Papa - your laughter, love, smile and determination will always remain in the hearts of those who loved you.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Cataraqui Heights Retirement Residence for the kindness and care they showed to Rolando.

In keeping with Rolando’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Funeral Service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church (490 Days Road) at 11:00 AM on May 16, 2025. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Rolando’s honour to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
