Rose Marie Nixon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 27, 2025. She was born on May 6, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Clara and Elias Cleaver.
In 1948, she married the love of her life, George Nixon, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Together they built a life grounded in love and faith, raising four sons- Tom, Jerry, Mark, and Randy- and celebrating 76 years of marriage. In 1956, they became founding members of St. James the Greater Parish, where they remained active for over 69 years.
Throughout George’s career as a salesman, Rose was with him every step of the way. She often accompanied him on trips throughout the country. In 1986, they founded Spectro Wire & Cable, and built a strong family business that still stands today. Rose loved to travel with George to Vegas for business trips and to play the slots and see the shows.
Rose enjoyed traveling the world with George and always returned with individual gifts for the family. She collected souvenir spoons that were always on display in her kitchen.
Rose was also a poet. Often sitting down to a typewriter, she would write poetry about her life, her family, and her favorite things. She wrote special individual poems for each of her grandkids.
Rose deeply loved her church family. She was a member of the St. James Altar Society, helped George with the St. James Athletic program, and worked in the school cafeteria for many years. The experience gave her the know how to faithfully make Sunday dinner at her house every week for the whole family. The ultimate fan of her sons, grandkids, and even great grandkids, she attended every sporting
event while meticulously keeping individual stats in her various notebooks.
She was a devoted fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and was a longtime football and basketball season ticket holder.
Rose always made sure birthdays and holidays were special for her family. She was available for babysitting duty or school pickups whenever necessary.
Her legacy of love and family devotion will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her memory will be cherished by all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her sons Tom (Pat), Jerry (Gayle), Mark (Pam), and Randy as well as nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. James the Greater Catholic Church.
May she rest in peace.
