Mary Marletta Obituary

Mary Marletta, 90, a resident of Huntersville, NC for the past eight years, formerly of West Babylon, NY, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025.  The daughter of Natale and Michelina Bumbaca, Mary born and raised in Brooklyn.  She moved out to Long Island in the early 60’s where she raised her family, along with her husband, the late Richard Bonasera.  

Mary worked for more than sixty years as a manicurist.  She loved animals and loved to dance but for Mary, her entire life was truly about her family.  There was nothing that she loved more than family gatherings where she was able to feed her family. 

Mary is survived by three children, Debra Lazinsky and her husband Neil of Florida, Joseph Bonasera and his wife Giovanna of Arizona and Michele Bonasera of North Carolina, her ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, as well as her brother, Ralph Bumbaca and his wife Evelyn of NJ and her twin sister, Carmella Berg, also of North Carolina.  She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Bonasera in 1977, by her second husband, Joseph Marletta in 1989, and by her son, Richard Bonasera in 2023.

Friends and relatives will gather on Friday, May 30th, 4-8 p.m. at Raynor & D’Andrea Funeral Home in West Sayville.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31st at St. Martin of Tours RC Church in Amityville and interment of ashes will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
