Billie Joe Scottland was born May 16, 1937, in Kimberly, Alabama to the late Jessie Scottland and Irene Scott who both proceeded him in death. Billie departed this life peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
Billie confessed his love for Christ at an early age, his rededication and baptism was Resurrection Sunday in 1977 at the Lampton Baptist Church, Rev. James E. Miller, pastor. Billie faithfully served the Lord in the Men’s choir and as a Deacon until his illness.
In 1971 he joined Ford Motor Company in Louisville, KY, where he was a dedicated employee for 30 years until his retirement. His zest for life and love for the Lord was apparent to his family, and friends. He loved fishing, cooking, traveling, playing cards, laughing, and teasing.
Billie was proceeded in death by his beautiful wife and love of his life Erma M. Scottland; three children; son Karl D. Scottland, son Cornelius W. Scottland, and his precious daughter, Wanda D. Scottland Kepple who passed 30 days before his departure. His sisters, Odessa Washington, Barbara Taylor, and Beatrice Cox.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his son: Tommy Scottland (Von), stepdaughters; Deborah (Orville) Thomas, Karen (Andy) Spencer, Angela (Kelvin) Wilson, and Marcella (Dale) Oglesby, stepson; Shawn (Yvonne) Martin. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. His sisters; Esther Griswold, Betty (Ronnie) Rich, Renae Robinson, Sharon (Michael) Peters, Sandra Brown and Jessie Mai Scottland. His brothers; Thomas Howard, John Howard, Henry Scottland and Sonny Scottland. A host of nieces and nephews whom he always said each were his favorites. A crew of friends including his dear companion, Lloyce Jefferson, a special friend Mary Blevins and church family.

Visitation and Service are to be held at Lampton Baptist Church 1121 South Clay Street, Louisville, KY 40203, on Monday, May 5, 2025. Visitation 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with service immediately following visitation at 12 noon.
Interment will be on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery, 4400 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40218 at 12:00 noon.
