Donald was born on April 16, 1928, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to Eugene and Goldie (Cole) Seidel. At the age of 18, he proudly enlisted in the Army during the WWII era in the 82nd Airborne Division, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He received an honorable discharge in 1947. Following his service, Don attended Penn State College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. In 1957, he graduated with a JD in law from Duquesne Law School.

In 1950, Don moved to Pittsburgh to join Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation, where he rose to the position of Product Manager, Sales during his 35 years of dedicated service.

In 1951, Don married Patricia Wilson of Altoona. Together, they raised four children: David, Linda, Susan, and Thomas. In 1957, they purchased their beloved home on Green Valley Drive, where Don would live for the remainder of his life.

Don was devoted to Patty during their 64 years of marriage, his 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. A lifelong learner and self-taught craftsman, he took pride in building a magnificent stone wall and patio at his home. He enjoyed movies, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, golf, gardening, and "puttering" around his yard. Nothing brought him more joy than family trips to the Atlantic Ocean, a place dear to his heart.

A devout Catholic and man of deep faith, Don prayed daily for his family and those in need. Always a true gentleman, he was a shining example of love, devotion, and kindness, leaving a lasting legacy for his family and all who knew him.

Don was predeceased by his cherished wife Patty, his parents, his brother Richard Seidel, and his daughter-in-law Suzanne L. Seidel. He is survived by his children: David Seidel of Knightdale, NC; Linda Herman (Philip) of Boston, MA; Susan Gallant (David) of Watertown, MA; and Thomas Seidel (Michele) of Raleigh, NC.
