Lonnie F. Akers was born June 19, 1940, and went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
He resided in Scott County, VA for most of his life until moving to Kingsport, TN approximately seven years ago.
Lonnie was a brick mason for over 35 years, and he loved working on his farm with his cattle and flowers. He attended church the majority of his life.
Lonnie is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Cleo M. Akers; daughters, Rhonda Smith and Teresa Smith (Rick); grandsons, Phillip Nathaniel Smith (Ariel), and Jeff Smith; granddaughter, Shannon White; four great grandsons; one great granddaughter; one great-great granddaughter; brothers, Ken Akers (Margie) and Don Akers (Donna); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Akers and Nannie Lee Akers; sons, Larry F. Akers and Jeffery L. Akers; granddaughter, Vickie Smith; sisters, Daphine France and Reba Nell Crawford; and his brother, Coy Akers.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm Monday, April 28, 2025, in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will follow at 6:00 pm with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.
A Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Gardner’s Chapel Cemetery, Timbertree Branch Rd. and Indian Creek Lane, Bristol, VA 24202. Pallbearers will be Marty Combs, Chris Davidson, Logan Davidson and Nathaniel Smith.
