Walter “Walt” G. Belsky, loving husband, father, and grandfather of North Brunswick, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He was 89.
Born in New Brunswick to the late Wally and Mary (Gross) Belsky on June 11, 1935, he resided in New Brunswick for most of his life until moving to North Brunswick in 1998. Walt was a self-employed painter and wallpaper hanger for over sixty years.
Walt was predeceased by his beloved wife, MaryJean (Forti) Belsky; and his brother, Andrew J. Belsky. He leaves behind his loving family: his two sons, Robert W. Belsky of Lawrenceville, Jeffrey T. Belsky of North Brunswick, and his daughter, Diane Belsky of South Brunswick; his two granddaughters, Jessica Belsky and Alison Belsky; five brothers, Dr. Theodore, Alex, George, Tomás and Jake; and two sisters, Elena Hesketh and Elizabeth Bonniol. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Walt was an avid fisherman who cherished spending time at the Jersey Shore, fishing and crabbing with his family and friends. He was a devoted fan of his favorite New York sports teams and enjoyed watching classic Westerns on TV. What he loved most, though, were Sunday dinners and holidays—times when his family would gather around the table to share a meal and listen to his stories, which were always full of humor and heart. Walt was known for his quick wit and unmatched sense of humor, a playful spirit that brought laughter to everyone around him. His vibrant personality and the joy he brought to every gathering will be deeply missed.
