Viola Geiss Bardes Obituary

Viola Geiss Bardes was born in Patterson, NJ on June 6, 1924.  She peacefully passed away at the age of 100 at the Oaks at Braselton.

Viola was one of six siblings born and raised by her parents Viola and Joseph Geiss. She grew up after the depression and during World War II- working several jobs including being a telephone operator.  Shortly after, she met and married her one true love-Richard E. Bardes and was married for 57 years until his passing in 2003.  She was also preceded in death by her loving son Jeff Bardes.  Viola is survived by her two sons, Richard (wife Trudy), Keith Bardes (wife Cindy), daughter-in-law Edwina Bardes, and daughter Kathi Goldberg (husband David).  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Evan Goldberg, Adam Goldberg, Molly Goldberg, Drew Bardes, and Zach Bardes, and 5 great-grandchildren, Addison Smucker, Mia Bardes, Elijah Bardes, Liam Bardes and Aries Goldberg.

Viola also worked at Playtex international, where she made many friends and became their credit union manager before retiring after 10 years.

After retirement, Viola got into the window treatment business, designing and making curtains and draperies for a large population of Manchester residents, with Manchester City Hall as one of her happy customers. She also did a lot of traveling, was a member of the Red Hat Society, and an avid walker – walking 5 or more miles on a daily basis with her friend and neighbor, Jackie Cole.
