It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rose A. Ruggiero (née Pellegrino), of Hallandale Beach, Florida, and formerly of Yonkers, New York. Born on May 18, 1940, in the Bronx, NY, to Michael and Margaret Pellegrino, Rose was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Ruggiero and the devoted mother of Margaret, Michael, Anthony (and his wife Linda), and Edward (and his wife Christine). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Michael, Kristen, Isabella, and Ryan.
Rose was fiercely independent and self-educated. In the late 1950s, she worked as a secretary in Manhattan and later served as the bookkeeper for her husband’s early business ventures. In the 1980s, she opened Mystique hair salon in Mamaroneck, NY with her daughter. And in 1990, with her husband and his family, she was a founding partner of the original T&J Pizza & Pasta in Port Chester, NY, where she worked for several years.
A lifelong learner and creative spirit, Rose took art classes, enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, and had a passion for films. She especially treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rose passed peacefully in her home in Florida. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rose’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4th, 2025 from 2:00-6:00 pm at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, New York 10704. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, May 5th, 2025 at Ruggiero & Sons, Inc. Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 732 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, New York 10704 with Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Saw Mill River Road & Jackson Avenue Hastings-On-Hudson, New York 10706.
