Johnny Loretta Jackson, 49, passed away on April 23, 2025.
Johnny was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Flora Bailey Jackson and William Grady Jackson.
She is survived by her brothers, Robbi Lee Jackson and Dennis L. Jackson; her sister, Billie Maxine Cole, and brother-in-law, Charles David Cole; five nieces; five grandnephews; three grandnieces; one great-grandnephew; and three great-grandnieces.
Johnny was a proud graduate of Pine Forest Senior High School and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Elon College. She dedicated many years to teaching as an orchestra instructor for Cumberland County Schools, most notably at Douglas Byrd High School and Spring Lake Middle School, where she was honored as Teacher of the Year. She served on the Governor's Committee on Music Education and shared her musical talents widely—including conducting an orchestra at Carnegie Hall.
Furthering her commitment to service and faith, Johnny earned a Master of Divinity degree from Campbell University Divinity School. She ministered in churches, homeless shelters, and among immigrant communities. Her faith and passion took her on travels across Europe, Israel, and Greece.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Rogers and Breece Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held during the visitation, officiated by Pastor Larry McCarty.
Johnny will be laid to rest in the family cemetery in Tennessee.
