It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and wife, Maria Elena Zurita, age 57, of Newark, Delaware on April 23, 2025.

Born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1968. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Paula Santos-Moedano, the eldest of four siblings. She was a devoted wife to Gustavo Zurita for years and an amazing mother.

Maria treasured her time spent with family and friends, especially loving the time spent with her grandchildren. Maria loved singing and dancing to Salsa and Cumbia music. She always had kind words for anyone in need of compassion, understanding and advice. Most of all Maria cherished the memories she made with her family around the holidays.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Lupita and brother Juanito.

She is survived by her husband Gustavo Zurita Sr.; children Gustavo Zurita, Edward Zurita and his wife Allison. Grandchildren; Dominic, Amelia, Aiden and Luca. Sister Laura Santos, Sister-in-law Ruth Laboy and her husband Jose Laboy and many, many, many more loving nieces and nephews and extended family members.

A viewing will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 10-11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am.
