Linda Lou Grosteffon Obituary

Linda Lou Grosteffon (Federspiel), age 82, of Midland, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025. She was born on September 5, 1942, in Breckenridge, Michigan, where she grew up on a farm with her parents, Inez and John Federspiel. The youngest of three children, Linda graduated from Breckenridge High School where she excelled on the softball team. In 1962, she married Gary Grosteffon and moved to Midland where they raised and nurtured their two children, Steve and Marsha. To fulfill her dream of a large family, she and Gary shared their love with three foster children.

Linda lived a life marked by quiet faith, creativity, and selflessness. She devoted herself to putting Jesus first, others second, and herself last. She shared her talents generously, crafting beautiful bookmarks, ornaments, bibs, quilts, and many other gifts from the simplest materials such as laundry bottles, wooden crates, teabags, and more. All these gifts were given freely to encourage and brighten the lives of those around her. Linda was also an active member of the Midland Quiltmakers, a group that has created over 30,000 quilts for orphans, the sick, veterans, and those in need.

She was also known for her chocolate chip cookies and rhubarb desserts, often using them as a way to connect with others, whether welcoming neighbors, encouraging church members, or supporting the ball teams for whom her husband kept score. These simple, loving gestures created lasting memories for all who knew her.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, (John & Inez Federspiel) and her beloved husband, Gary Grosteffon. She is survived by her children, Steve Grosteffon (Ellie) and Marsha Stamas (Jim); her grandchildren, Nickolas Stamas and Jessica Stamas; and her siblings, Janice French (Don) and Wes Federspiel (Norma) along with several nieces and nephews.
